Historical Capitalism with Capitalist Civilization fRael Keinan is not verylattering The people who occupied the broken states around us had once represented the pinnacle of civilization 195 he says but now they are almost all in decline and looking In His Eyes for someone to blame He adds not holding back that he sympathized with modern Arab bitterness Self destructive as it was I understood the Arab compulsion to blame an externalorce or the tragic decline of an entire civilization The West s colonial legacy and its contemporary ascendancy made it an easy villain rom the Arab perspective and Israel s successes made it an easy proxy Holiday Confessions for the Western oppressor 195 He writes on the next page that Whipping up hatred was infinitely easier than taking responsibilityor the Arab Slave to Love future 196 and that theighting likely will continue This is the ending prognosis of Richard Engel who wrote a book titled And Then All Hell Broke Loose Two Decades in the Middle East In that book Engel an NBC Fortunes Perfect Match foreign correspondent examines the role the terrorist group Hezbollah occupies as a past present and likelyuture threat to Israel Overall I see Keinan as an educated and outward looking Secularist who thinks Israel needs aggressive self defense open commerce and less dissolution into American culture while working to keep American and Israeli Jews in dialogue with one another He thinks Israelis should be educated less reliant on the state and willing to work with someone The Daddy Search from a differentaction than the one they belong to I think he believes Theocrats and Territorialists are uneducated and insular and lucky to be enjoying what Secularists provide Im Jackson Day and Im Here to Stay for them that the Fourth Israel is exploited and looked down upon and Diaspora Jews are too unwilling to contribute to Jewish statehood Ultimately he is making recommendations that would strengthen the Jewish state and also warning readers of the dire conseuences and the very real possibility of an Israel in decline This review and others can beound on my blogThanks to Netgalley and Random House Sugar Rush (Sugar Bowl, for an ARC This will publish September 25th155 DNF at 16%What didn t workor me was the message of this book Judaism although not my own religion is one I ind very interesting and willingly study or the hell of it I m always looking Affairs of Honor for reads about contemporary Judaism so when this book got offered to me by Random House as areebie I jumped on itBut it didn t work Mega Collection for me I didn t like Keinan s messageHis message was in short as I really liked the message of this book Hence theive star rating The Bloc Life fact is that Tal has a very clear voice and has some very interesting ideas I am also an Israeli American Or rather American Israeli I think that Tal s journey his descriptions his issues with what s going on in Israel and America that is watering down world Jewry are pretty much spot on I like his ideasor reforms in Israel to help the world swallow what they re trying to offer I very much wish someone would read them and take them seriously I also really like his idea of applying crowd theory The Indian Clerk from business to the issues at hand He is so right that something must change I hope he takes this book around and speaks with however many people as possible and wish him luck with that in Israel where Iear it won t be as well received where some of the exact audiences that need to consider what he s suggesting are too close minded to do so God Is in the Crowd A Model Faith Fairies for Post Diaspora Judaism Tal KeinenThis is a book written by a committed Jew a Jew committed to the survival of Judaism rather than the survival of its religiosity a Jew committed to the survival of Israel This review is by design brief It behooves each reader to try to absorb its ideas and explore them with care Perhaps in that way The Wisdom of the Crowd theory can be relevant than Iound it to be at the end of the book I simply do not think it will work as well with abstract ideas as it does with concrete ideas when they are put into motion and assessed However social media sites use its principles to make many decisionsWith careful deliberation Keinen lays out a plan Greetings from Witness Protection! for the survival of not only Israel but alsoor the survival of the Jew the Jew that is rapidly acing extinction on its current course through intermarriage and a lack of acceptance by the Israeli government which is extinction on its current Course Through Intermarriage And A through intermarriage and a of acceptance by the Israeli government which is heavily by the ultra orthodox and their stringent rules or what constitutes a true Jew The government of Israel although welcoming Jews to the country does not welcome all Jews eually into their community Necessarily that practice of discrimination eliminates a huge percentage of Jews The Hotel New Hampshire from Israel s support and evenrom supporting other Jews Divisiveness reignsKeinan born in America explains his background and experiences along with his decision to remain in Israel and serve in the IDF He describes his plan utilizing the theory based on the principles outlined in the The Wisdom of the Crowd by James Surowiecki He uses that theory with regard to how the Jews have survived centuries in the Diaspora and he attempts to explain how that same wisdom theory can be exploited to save Israel and the Jews A Dangerous Man (Women and Men, from disappearingrom the Sizzling Seduction face of the earth not necessarily through violence but rather through attrition Israel is losing itsollowing and therefore the numbers of Jews supporting it and choosing to remain Jewish is dwindling as well As he attempts to use this theory by applying its principles to an abstract idea when it is better suited to concrete ideas I began to disagree with what he presented although I agreed with most of the tenets he put Her Secret Husband (Secrets of Eden, forth in his argumentor why a plan to make Israel and all Jews a cohesive group was necessary I just disagreed with his method and its chances of success but I must admit I had no idea of my own with which to counter his which is largely the problem that exists or Israel and most Jews todayI believe he honestly presents the situation outlining the tension that exists in the Middle East today and he honestly describes some of the animosity also that exists between Arab and Israeli between the countries and its citizens However I do not believe that his idea of allowing outside Jews to have

a vote in
vote in Israel governs the Jews within and without Israel is actionable or attainable It is an interesting concept and certainly without the voice of Jewry in the outside world represented in Israel Israel runs the risk of becoming nothing than another radical country ruled by a religious group governed by dogma and religious practices which will dominate the culture and uture of the country ultimately negating it as a haven Baby, Im Yours (Guys And Daughters, for world Jewry The ultra orthodox are the ones who have a higher rate of reproduction as do Muslims and most other radical or ultra religious groups If those radical religious groups gain aoothold greater than they have now Israel will probably no longer be able to sustain itself as it is and will probably be wracked by war ad infinitumSo while I do not think Keinan s theory can work the way it is designed now I think that it is imperative Her Counterfeit Husband for some kind of a plan along the lines he outlines to be worked out If Jews are to survive if Israel is to survive no Jew can be excluded or refusedull rights in the country and the rules Heart of the Night (Secret Agent for acceptance have to be realistic and inclusive If Israel is to survive the numbers of Jews living outside of Israel have to give the native Israelis the power to continue to control its own destiny but they will only do this if theyeel they have some kind of a stake in the country s The Greek Bosss Demand future How to accomplish this is the uestion Continued war is simply not the answer This is a wonderful book on Jewish continuity It is part memoir and part a look at how to make Judaism and its people last than three generations I highly recommend this book I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisheror providing me with a review copy in exchange February or Forever (Tarrins Bay for my honest and unbiased opinion of Est took him down an unlikely path to becoming aighter pilot in the Israel Air Force Through the prism of his own dramatic personal story and the lessons he learned rom his professional life Keinan embarks on an investigation of the core values of Judaism in the twenty irst century and looks to the relationship between American and Israeli Jews to enrich world Jewry in a post Diaspora age God Is in the Crowd presents an innovative plan in which the wisdom of the Jewish crowd is harnessed to endow Judaism with new purpose and ensure its survival. God Is in the CrowdAs a US Jew who is also an IDF airforce Jew lends a uniue perspective on American Jewry and Israeli Jewry and what their relationship is to each other and how to make it work in the 21st century with the rift growing wider between the two Part memoir and part suggestion Since it s a proof I won in a Goodreads giveaway it does need a little A Virgin For The Taking (Clemenger Sisters fine polishing but Iound it very interesting especially the steps Israel could take to make a better Israel What She Saw / Operation Reunion for those wanting to make aliyah Further reading suggestions are presented in one of the appendixes Author Tai Keinan was raised in a secular Jewish home in Florida then joined the Israeli Army as a combat pilot after college After being emersed in the homeland and origins of hisaith and his people Keinan in this work examines our distinct classifications of current Judaism He then poses a hypothesis regarding the true Jewish lineage in today s society will there be any pure Jewish bloodlines left in the next ew generations This is a well researched objective view As good as meditationto read spiritual The Dark Duke faith based books brings so much insight and challengeilled thinking into my daily life and I A Measure Of Love (Kincaid Trilogy find it such a necessityor all of life s daily struggles God Is in the Crowd A Model Starting Over on Blackberry Lane (Life in Icicle Falls for Post Diaspora JudaismI will be honestI did not understand what I was expecting to read I have not read anything on Judaism asar as I knowor at least completely in an entire book I was interestedand glad that this particular book kept that interest through out Always wanting to know than what I have been taught what I have been raised to believethis book provides The Soul Of A Thief foodor thought and great insight Thanks to the good people of goodreads author Tal Keinan and to Signal Books Claiming His Desert Princess (Hot Arabian Nights for myree copy of this book that I received via giveaway I received I read I reviewed this book voluntarily and honestly This was a very thoughtful discussion of Jewish continuity in Israel and in the diaspora It starts with the uestion should there be Jews Recommenced to anyone interested in the Secret Baby, Surprise Parents future of the Jewish peoplenation God is in the Crowd is a look at theuture of Judaism if Mystify (Mystyx, followers were to use the Wisdom of the CrowdThe most interesting part of the book in the look at Jewish history and Tal Keinan s personal history with Judaism I enjoyed learning about the history of the religion within a contemporary time period More than anything I was mostascinated with the look at Israeli Jews and how they lived their lives especially where military service is involvedI had some empathy as Judaism is The New Baby facing some of the same issues as Christianity that made it easier to understand the specific and special issues that just apply to Judaism Keinan has a point that affects all religious doctrines without looking at the population and understanding their ideas about their own religion it cannot grow While I understand and support this idea his next idea on how to moveorward is Wild Streak far radicalKeinan starts looking into politics and mixing politics with religion This seems to be a move backward as government run religion never works outor the outliers of the religion Keinan speaks of incorporation and committee of the various P.I. Daddys Personal Mission (The Coltons of Montana, factions while putting the president in charge harkening to ruling similar to the PopeThe other aspects he presents is A Jewish World Endowmentund that would provide camps teaching and higher education Jewish citizens would put in a certain percentage of income to receive these services at no additional cost But once again this is government run which leaves very little room Say Youll Stay And Marry Me for dissent The author hopes this book creates discussion I am sure it will because it gave me strong opinionsI received an ARCrom NEtGalely all opinions are my own Keinan born in Miami graduated Rafaellos Mistress from Georgetown University in Washington DC but interrupted his education there to immigrate to Israel in 1990 and join the Israeli Air Force something rareor an immigrant He currently is a lieutenant colonel in the IAF After serving he returned to America to The Boleyn King (The Boleyn Trilogy, finish at Georgetown and later get an MBArom Harvard he then moved back to Israel and joined an investment Rascal firm called Giza beforeounding Clarity Capital which manages over 1 billion in assets and is based in New York City and Tel Aviv specializing in managing large amounts of wealth He currently lists Israel as his place of residence but I got the sense he also resides in NYC As to why he left college to join the IAF I assume it s about becoming a citizen of Israel Keinan refers to himself as an IAF I assume it s about becoming a citizen of Israel Keinan refers to himself as an born IsraeliDid you know every Jewish male has to serve two years and eight months in the Israel military and every Jewish emale two years Not everyone serves though A 2013 newspaper report claimed two years Not everyone serves though A 2013 newspaper report claimed of potential conscripts did not enlist due to religious exemptions and about 9% or reasons of mental health physical health or because of a criminal record Also Arabs living in Israel are not conscripted Keinan s book gives you a lot of details like this things most Americans probably don t know about Israel and modern day Jewry Keinan writes that as a young man he What Would You Like? felt relativelyortunate especially in relation to his Narcissus in Chains (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, father who could only imagine the dedicated teachers and expert coaches who would now escort me down the path to privilege and who had always been conscious of a line beyond which talent and grit could never take him 9 Keinan depicts hisather as working class and in a sense worked to death Having run uphill at Cinderella for a Night (36 Hours, full tilt since childhood he writes hisather was permanently spent by midlife He never recovered the Friend Foe fight of his youth 10 Keinan pursued an education hisather never had and later would accumulate wealth in a way his The Longevity Diet father never could Keinan to me expresses sympathyor working class Israelis known as The Fourth Israel Consistently he advocates Grassroots Innovation for them and considers them oppressed and unfairly marginalized and here I surmised a link between how he describes their lives and the life of hisatherKeinan also in the early pages tells us what it was like to be a young American Jew in Israel First he perceived what to him was a new type of Judaism writing that In Israel I encountered a people that was reclaiming control of its ate in practice They were not passively uestioning the cycle as I was 25 Keinan was impressed by the intensive engagement young Israeli Jews had with Judaism on ethnic religious and political and militaristic levels He often depicts Jews in America as dissolving into another culture and losing their identity and one gets a sense that because he grew up like that his irst engagement with young Israelis was a sort of shock As a young man in Israel he saw that My peers had been cast in a precise and rigid mold Architecture and Utopia forged by the brutality of Israel s history robustocused Spartan almost two dimensional This stood in sharp contrast to the liberal arts mold in which I like most American Jews had been shaped 104 He tells us young Jews pursuing educations in Israel are encouraged to choose a career path that has a direct benefit to the Jewish state with a bent toward the military writing Perfect Cities for example that At age eighteen almost all Secularist Jewish Israelis specialize in acuiring a skill that will be applied not to progress but to defense 105 I get the sense he doesn t really like this He discusses theactions within Israel the major ones are Secularists Territorialists and Theocrats Secularists tend to be wealthy educated power brokers within Israeli society and the Israeli economy 151 They are modern cosmopolitan and seek to connect Israel with the broader World Keinan Writes That The Keinan writes that the danger Prometheus Wired facing Israel is the disenfranchisement of the Secularists and This process has already begun 176 Keinan as I note above is a part of this group He writes Today many of us associate Secularism with progressive high tech Tel Aviv 90 Again he resides there himself as a co Part call to action and part riveting personal story an original proposalor discovering relevance in Judaism and ensuring its survival rom a pioneering social activist and Harvard MBA business leader who served as a ighter in the Israel Air Force God Is in the Crowd is an original and provocative blueprint Special Topics in Calamity Physics for Judaism in the 21st century told through the lens of Keinan's unusual personal story Keinan's analysis of the threat to Jewish continuity is sobering as Jewry has become concentrated in just two parts of the world America and Israel the Ounder of an international business over Secularists being modern and educated tend to be less religious and this puts them at odds with the Theocrats referred to also as Orthodox Jews by Keinan He writes that many secular Israelis still consider themselves antireligious and most of Israel s Ultra Orthodox religious establishment regards secular Israel as its political and cultural enemy 83 He seems to criticize Theocratsor a lack of interest in the world beyond their communities writing in a disapproving tone that With very Seven More Languages in Seven Weeks few exceptions the Theocrats do not serve in the military do not contribute to the economy and seek no engagement with the outside world 176 He believes this is a uality of Theocrats that transcends cultures The vast majority of Ultra Orthodox Jews in the United States and in Israel he writes have little contact with secular Jews 60 Keinan also seems critical of how they live off the state He writes that Theocrats tend to depend on Israel s government in theorm of study stipends welfare grants and exemptions Scenes from a Revolution from civic duties 151 A bit later he suggests a dependence on the state is weakening Israeli society broadly claiming Israel s welfare budget has been rising precipitously noting a spikerom 2000 2014 rom 14% to 20% of Jewish households on public assistance of some kind 158 Keinan thinks Theocrats are simultaneously exerting of an influence over Israeli society living off the capital Secularists like him generate and distancing that society rom American Jews who again tend to be secular educated and modern a group which Microsoft Visual C finds its brand of Judaism increasingly unwelcome in Israel 162 The Israeli Orthodox religious establishment having gained control over the center of world Judaism exerts power over other Israeli Jews and over American Jewry he says 162 and he also notes that it has begun to alienate an increasingly broad segment of American Jewry 163 with continued efforts to involve religion in governance and public life An April 2020 article published at bloombergcom claimed 98% of Ultra Orthodox Jews said in a survey that they were satisfied with their lives than any other group in Israel but that most people think it s because many don t work and live off the government Meanwhile over the next 20 years they are projected to double in size Ultra Orthodox women have an average of seven children in Israel giving them political influenceurther Secularist Jews in the article complain that On issues Soulprint from public transportation on the Sabbath to marriage the Haredim a collective of different types of Orthodox Jews have been able to impose their rules on all Israelis while largely living off of the support of everyone else Territorialists according to Keinan are militaristic public servants and the main drivers of Israeli defense He claims they demand massive economic resources to provide security and infrastructure 151 often to aault To me he sees them as takers while Secularists like himself carry the burden of providing the nation with resources He also rames them as among Israel s less educated and outward looking writing that The Territorialists serve in the military often with distinction but contribute little to Israel s export led economy and enjoy little engagement with the outside world 175 Another group a major segment of Israeli society but minor in terms of its influence politically is what Keinan calls The Fourth Israel This group is working class composed of the many Israeli Jews who are orced to struggle with the challenge of economic survival and have little time or ideologyThey are mechanics uartermasters drivers cooks sentries and maintenance personnel 152 They are people who make society go with their labor but are poor and lack education Keinan writes that Jewish members of the Fourth Israel serve in the military and make up a large proportion of the workforce but are too embattled economically to embrace a social or political vision 176Keinan also talks about Diaspora Jews who tend to be connected to Judaism ethnically and or religiously and who tend not to eel an obligation to support the state of Israel It might be useful to give some demographical information at this point First off Keinan writes As of 2016 almost 90 percent of the world s Jews resided in either North America or Israel 42 I think he d call any Jew regardless of where they live Israel 42 I think he d call any Jew regardless of where they live is unwilling to on some level contribute to the security and prosperity of the Jewish state Jews who have or less abandoned that state Keinan writes that without sovereign power and its attendant responsibilities Diaspora Jews have never been Surrender forced to contend with the practical messiness of actually governing 139 However in his advocacyor including the perspectives of all Jews in any conversation about the The Highlanders Touch (Highlander, future of Israel he writes that lack of representationor Diaspora Jews as it regards Israel as the nation state of the Jews is unreasonable 277 They like all the rest deserve a seat at the tableAs to this advocacy of holism which I O Regresso da Atlântida - Os guerreiros de Posídon feel is exemplified in the title Keinan thinksactionalism among Jewish groups is unsustainable and that Israel is reaching a breaking point He claims that in opposing one another each of the major groups has applied its resources and skills to scoring parochial victories at the others expense myopically admiring its brushstrokes as we collectively painted ourselves into a corner 37 This has led to a lack of national unity Israel is the self
proclaimed nation state
nation state the Jewish People he writes but there is little consensus among Israelis as to what that means 65 Meanwhile the writes but there is little consensus among Israelis as to what that means 65 Meanwhile the Theocrats and Territorialists have all Gdy mrok zapada (William Wisting, fought to bend Israeli government and society to its own parochial visionor Israel s relationship with Judaism 67Keinan spends a lot of time discussing the stakes that drive his argument An educated Secularist he writes that Human progress is not ending it is accelerating and Jewish evolution must keep pace if Judaism is to survive 236 He explains also that If current trends persistJews who remain in Israelwill be unable to sustain themselves economically or militarily They will eventually succumb to the violent reality that befalls most minorities in the Middle East 43 He gives recommendations about many things including national security As a military officer he has seen that it is a dangerous world and he argues Israel needs to be vigilant and capable of self defense He writes that Israel could be The Scarlet Ruse (Travis McGee far aggressive in defending itself than it currently is 78 and takes time to remind readers of a stark reality they are surrounded by an Arab world that has consistently been hostile violent and provocative He brings up examples of Israel sailure to establish peaceful relationships with Palestinians The White Road for instance Israel s 2005 withdrawalrom the Gaza Strip which resulted not in constructive state building but in Gazan Palestinians destroying the economic infrastructure that Israel left behind Bridges of Madison County for them and turning Gaza into a Hamas rocket base that launchesreuent attacks on Israeli civilians 75 He seems to think Israel gives Palestinians Mind Wide Open far too much leniency because the government still clings to a notion that a peaceful partnership is possible or even desirable Keinan writes that the Israeli government hides behind the professed needor a Palestinian partner allowing the Palestinians refusal to behave as a partner to dictate the viability and timing of Israel s own strategic decisions 79 and later brings up bombings in Tel Aviv in particular a wave of terror attacks in 2000 perpetrated by Palestinian leadership in which hundreds of Jews were killed 130 He reminds readers Israelis do not however enjoy the benefit of America s protective shell Their basic security must be defended constantly rom threats immediately across their border 112 And who are the threats Addressing the areas that surround Is. Ewish people has lost the subtle code of governance that made Judaism relevant in the Diaspora This code as Keinan explains it is a derivative of Francis Galton's wisdom of crowds aka swarm intelligence or collective intelligence Keinan argues orcefully that the science of crowd wisdom has played a key role in Jewish survival over the centuries and must be resurrected now since the alternative is the extinction of the Jews Born to a secular Jewish amily in Florida Keinan's interest in Judaism was piued by a Christian minister at Exeter That inter.
